If I sign up, when do I get my check from CMS? The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid are offering incentive payments of up to $44,000 to physicians that demonstrate “the meaningful use” of a certified EMR system. This money will be paid out over five years beginning in 2011. To be eligible for payments in 2011, physicians must demonstrate 90 continuous days of using a certified system in 2011.

What exactly is “Meaningful Use”? Meaningful Use is a term that indicates successfully meeting the federally mandated usage of an EMR sys- tem. The proposed terms will require physicians to demonstrate a wide variety of software-based practices in their office. Dermanaut will work with you to help meet the requirements of “Meaningful Use”.

Do I have to buy all new computers? No, Dermanaut is entirely web-based, which means you never have to buy a new computer or install new software. As long as your computer is able to get on the web, you can access your records on Dermanaut. Macs, PCs, even tablets and smartphones will work with Dermanaut! We have even seen great success with offices using Dermanaut on iPads.

Internet! Is it safe? Safety is a big concern of ours too! So much so, that we chose to take care of the data security and back- ups for you with a HIPAA certified, SAS 70 accredited data host that has been doing this sort of thing for over 16 years. This model is far safer than if you were expected to run your own servers, and even safer than having physical folders sitting in your office.

How much will this slow me down? Certainly change comes at a price, however we have built our product from day one to be easy and intui- tive for you and your staff. Our extensive work with dermatologists have helped us to build a product that increases efficiency and accuracy the minute you begin using Dermanaut. Our goal is to add value to your office, ever time you see a patient.

We are not computer geniuses, won’t this be difficult? Most software is designed for engineers by engineers. This is not our way. Dermanaut was designed for dermatologists, by High-Tech AnthropologistsTM with dermatologist input throughout the process. In fact, if something doesn’t work the way you want it to, let us know and we’ll do our best to change it!

What do I do with my old paper records? We recommend scanning old records and attaching them to patients within Dermanaut. We can show you how we have seen it done most successfully, or we can even help you to scan your records.

I’m different from other dermatology offices, how will you work in my office? Dermanaut has been designed to be both flexible and standardized. We achieve this by providing multiple ways to conduct exams and office specific customizations. This flexibility, coupled with standardized terminology of the AAD provide dermatologists with the tools they need to efficiently and effectively docu- ment patient exams.

As always, if you have any other questions, we’d love to hear from you. Feel free to email us info@dermanaut.com or call us directly at (313) 202-6760
